5. Commitment To Each Other

I have found for my family that commitment is the most important thing. It creates a bond of trust that ascends all other traits.

Putting your family first and letting them know that they are more important than anything else in the world to you, creates strong bonds and happy families.

I think our kids are so well adjusted, in spite of the many challenges that come with a mixed household, because they know they can trust their father and I be there for them. Commitment to each other

Todd and I know that we can trust each other no matter what the circumstances. We will not stray from each other. It is my experience that because we know that we are committed to each other on such a deep level, when stressful situations arise, it is much easier to deal with them.

We know we won't walk away from each other. We know we are committed for the long haul, now that we have been tested over and over again. I can't tell you how powerful a feeling that is. You need to experience it your self, and the only way you can is to make that promise to each other, through thick and thin.

Please don't get me wrong. If you are in an abusive relationship this does not work...get the hell out of there as soon as you can. If your partner is not supporting you in all the above ways then you don't have a foundation to build commitment on. That is why, I don't put commitment first on the list. In my opinion, you have to be friends and family first before the trust is built to really have a powerful and strong relationship.....this leads me to the next guideline....
